Chinese Valentine's Day - Free Valentine's Day cards

Valentine's Day is a day of eternal love when lovers all around the world feel special. In other words it's a like a tribute to romantic love which comes along once a year. The Chinese also have a special day that is devoted to love. This is called 'Qi Qiao Jie' which stands for the seventh eve and is usually celebrated as the Chinese Valentine's Day. Although it doesn't involve the usual gift giving (like in Valentines Day), there are other customs that are associated with this romantic day.

As the legend goes, Niu Lang and Zhi Nu were fairies who lived on the opposite sides of the Milky Way. Since they were both very lonely, Jade the Emperor of Heaven tried to bring some excitement into their lives by bringing them together. He eventually succeeded and both the fairies, however they were so engrossed that they often started neglecting work. At this, Jade the Emperor was declared that they could meet only once a year which would be the seventh night of the seventh moon. So, the people celebrate this day 'Qi Qiao Jie' gazing at the star Vega, which stands for Zhi Nu on the eastern side waiting for his lover Niu Lang who waits in the western side. There are other beliefs too like the Seven Sisters Festival or the Festival of the Double Sevens.
